Jigna Jitendra Vora was born in 1974 and raised in Ghatkopar, Mumbai. Her family background included challenges she later wrote about, and she grew up in an environment that shaped her early choices. In November 2011 Vora was arrested in connection with the murder of journalist Jyotirmoy “J Dey” Dey. Police alleged she had provided information used to plan the killing; she faced multiple charges and spent nine months in Byculla Women’s Jail before being granted bail in July 2012. The special court cited her responsibilities as a single parent when granting bail and noted she had no prior criminal record. In 2018 she was acquitted due to a lack of evidence; the same year courts convicted other accused in the case.

Her time in custody marked a significant personal transformation. Vora has described undergoing a spiritual awakening while imprisoned. After her release she moved away from frontline journalism and built a new professional identity as a consciousness healer and Aatmic Awareness teacher, offering meditation classes and private healing sessions.
