Raised in a family with roots in Punjab, he counts Patiala as his hometown. He attended several schools including The Punjab Public School in Nabha, Yadavindra Public School in Patiala and St. Paul's College in Lucknow. For higher education he studied at Bikram College under Punjabi University, Patiala, earning a B.Com degree.
