Jitender Gogi (Gangster) Biography

Jitender Singh Mann, known as Jitender Gogi, was a Delhi-based gang leader from Alipur. Active in violent crime and gang rivalry from his late teens, he ev

Early life and background

Jitender Singh Mann was born in 1991 in the Chhota Shiv Mandir area of Naval Park, Village Alipur, in Delhi. He belonged to a family from that neighborhood; his father, Mehar Singh, worked as a private contractor and died of cancer in 2010, and his mother is named Padmeshwari. He had an elder brother, Ravinder Mann, who drove and rented out tempos, and a sister whose name is not recorded in the available material.

Gogi attended Swami Shraddhanand College at the University of Delhi and completed a graduation there. During his school and college years he played volleyball and won several medals, but a right-shoulder injury at about age 17 ended his participation in the sport. He became involved in college politics while at university, an environment that later contributed to longstanding rivalries.

Career

Known publicly by the nickname Gogi, Jitender emerged as the leader of a group referred to as the Gogi Gang. Police records and press reporting associate him with serious criminal activity including murder, extortion, carjacking, and possession of illegal weapons. His rise into organized crime accelerated following his father’s death in 2010.

Conflicts with a rival group tied to a figure called Tillu developed out of college-era disputes and personal incidents that escalated over time. A close childhood friend and lieutenant, Sunil Maan, reportedly joined the rival side in 2009, a personal setback that Gogi’s family described as a painful rupture of a long friendship.

Gogi faced multiple arrests over the years. He was arrested by Panipat police in 2016 but escaped custody within months while being taken to court. At that time a reward of 400,000 rupees was offered for information leading to his capture. Police allege his gang was connected to several killings, including the murders of a Haryana singer, Harshita Dahiya, and a local Aam Aadmi Party leader, Virendra Mann; Harshita is described as having been a witness in another gang member’s case. In February 2017 he was linked to the slaying of Devender Pradhan from Alipur. In 2018 a violent confrontation between Gogi’s group and Tillu’s gang in Burari left three dead and five injured.

Court records and FIRs attribute an array of alleged violent acts to Gogi dating back to 2010 and the early 2010s, including shootings and assaults connected to campus elections and local disputes. In March 2020 he and three associates were arrested by the Delhi Police Counter Intelligence Unit.

Public profile

Gogi was a polarizing figure whose name appeared frequently in media coverage of organized crime in the Delhi area. Reports note he had a distinctive pattern in violent incidents and that investigators found a diary in which he had recorded names of associates who had been killed or arrested. Family members quoted to authorities described a household strained by the gang conflicts and expressed a wish for the violence to stop. His sister-in-law said the family had tried to arrange a marriage for him, but he reportedly declined, citing reluctance to involve a woman in a criminal life.

Death

On 24 September 2021 Jitender Gogi was shot while present at the Rohini District Court in Delhi for a hearing in one of his cases. He was taken to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities reported that the two assailants who opened fire were wearing advocates’ uniforms and that responding police officers exchanged fire; officials stated the attackers were affiliated with the rival Tillu gang and were killed in the incident. Police characterized the incident as a targeted attack rather than a spontaneous gang clash.

Latest updates

Following his death, police statements and press reporting continued to cite the history of a bitter rivalry between the Gogi and Tillu factions and detailed the circumstances of the courtroom shooting. The incident drew attention to security procedures at courts where high-profile accused appear and underscored the long-running violent feud that marked much of Gogi’s public profile.
