Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia was born on 1 January 1971 in Bombay, Maharashtra. He grew up in a family with deep roots in Gwalior: his grandfather, Jivajirao Scindia, was the last ruling Maharaja of the erstwhile princely state of Gwalior, and his father, Madhavrao Scindia, pursued a long career in national politics. Jyotiraditya attended Campion School in Bhopal and The Doon School in Dehradun before moving abroad for higher studies.
