Early life and background
Prapanjan Kumaravel, known professionally as K Prapanjan, was born on 25 June 1994 in Sankagiri in the Salem district of Tamil Nadu. Raised in a family with a kabaddi background—his father played the sport at the district level—Prapanjan and his siblings took to kabaddi from a young age. He spent part of his early sporting life playing volleyball at school, but after college he shifted his focus fully to kabaddi.

Prapanjan pursued higher education in Tamil Nadu, attending Sri Ganesh College of Arts & Science in Salem and later graduating from PSN Engineering College of Technology in Tirunelveli. He moved to Chennai to join the Sports Authority of India (SAI), where his game developed and he earned selection for national-level teams and a spot in the national camp.

Career
Prapanjan is a raider by trade. While training at the national camp he worked under coaches including Kasinathan Baskaran and had the opportunity to train alongside prominent players, which helped him refine his raiding skills. He made his Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) debut with U Mumba in season 2 (2015) and remained with the franchise for season 3 (2016).

Across subsequent seasons Prapanjan moved through several PKL franchises. In season 4 he joined the Telugu Titans. In season 5 Tamil Thalaivas signed him, and he played 22 matches that season, contributing 123 raid points. Season 6 saw him with the Gujarat Fortune Giants where, over 22 matches, he recorded 122 raid points and added a tackle point.

Bengal Warriors acquired him for season 7 in 2019. That year he played 20 matches, executed 205 raids and scored 102 raid points; Bengal Warriors went on to win the PKL title that season. Tamil Thalaivas re-signed him for season 8 (2021), during which he appeared in seven matches and scored 21 raid points. In season 9 (2022) he was bought by Haryana Steelers and produced 40 raid points from 66 raids; the Haryana Steelers retained him for season 10 (2023).
