Kamal Ravikant was born on May 22, 1971, in New Delhi, India. His family relocated to the United States when he was a child. He grew up in Queens, New York, with his mother Kusum Ravikant and his younger brother, Naval Ravikant. After completing secondary education he attended the University of Rochester, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology, economics and healthcare reform.

Career

Ravikant’s professional life spans writing, venture capital and technology. Early in his career he served as a U.S. Army infantry soldier and spent time stationed in Georgia. In the private sector he went on to found Revnetics, a web application development company, in 2009 and later established the venture firm Evolve VC in 2007. He has worked as an angel investor and as a partner operating in the venture capital world alongside his brother Naval; among companies he has invested in are Clearbit, ClearTax and Carta.
