Kamlesh Tukaram Sawant was born on 12 June 1974 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He attended Chhatrapati Shivaji Vidyalaya for his school education and went on to study at Bhavan's College in Mumbai. His father, Tukaram Sawant, worked as a clerk with the Indian Railways and served as a sports secretary.
