Early life and background

Karamjit Anmol was born on 2 January 1975 in the village of Ganduan in Sunam tehsil, Sangrur district, Punjab, India. Raised in the same village he later lists as his hometown, Anmol grew up in a Sikh family and began learning singing at the age of six. He completed his schooling at Seaba International Public School in Lehra Gaga and graduated from SUS College in Sunam. He also received formal training in music and won a gold medal in folk music from Punjabi University, Patiala.

Career

Anmol’s performing roots stretch from mimicry and theatre to music and film. As a child he would imitate family members, neighbours and teachers, and during college he joined theatre work alongside Bhagwant Mann. He worked as a theatre artist and appeared in comedy plays such as OMG !! Oh My God and Naughty Baba In Town, which toured internationally to audiences in Canada, the United States, New Zealand and Australia.

He released his first commercially available album, Aashiq Bhaaji, while studying in +1, and later expanded his profile as a singer with notable tracks including the widely appreciated Yaara Ve Yara in 2013. His entry to films came with the 2011 movie Jihne Mera Dil Luteya. Over the years Anmol has become best known for his comedy roles in Punjabi cinema and has also worked in Punjabi television serials including Jugnu Kehnda Hai, Jugnu Mast Mast, Jugnu Hazir Hai and Hasde Hasande Raho.
