Karan Nath was born and brought up in Mumbai into a family connected to the film industry. His father, Rakesh Nath, has worked as a celebrity manager and film producer, while his mother, Reema Rakesh Nath, is a film writer. His grandfather was actor D. K. Sapru. Karan has two sisters, Dakshina Nath and Shaina Nath, the latter of whom has worked as an actress and producer.

During his school and college years he played tennis competitively at the national level. He later trained in acting at the Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute in Mumbai and learned dance at the Shiamak Davar Dance Academy.

Karan’s onscreen journey began as a child actor in the 1987 film Mr. India. He made his adult film debut in Paagalpan (2001) in which he played the role of Sameer Malhotra. He gained wider recognition for his lead role as Karan Malhotra in Yeh Dil Aashiqanaa (2002), a film that brought him significant popularity.

Following that success, his film career included appearances in LOC Kargil (2003), Tera Kya Hoga Johnny (2009), and Guns of Banaras (2020).
