Early life and background

Karpoor Gaurav hails from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Kanpur and went on to study Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering at Galgotias College of Engineering & Technology in Greater Noida, where he earned a B.Tech (2009–2013). During his college years he led the dramatics club Kalakriti and served as the vice president of the Rotaract club. He lists reading, writing poems and playing the ukulele among his personal interests.

Career

Gaurav’s career has been rooted in online entertainment and digital content. Early on he worked as a content creator and growth hacker at Aarvee Idealab Technologies Pvt Ltd in Noida from August 2015 to October 2016. In October 2016 he joined Purani Dili Talkies as an actor and later moved into assistant directing. In that role he supervised more than forty comedy sketches and worked on the web series Bewadey (season 1 and 2), while also scripting a number of YouTube videos for the channel.

From May to September 2018 he was an assistant director for the YouTube channel The Timeliners, contributing as director on several videos including Sardarboys – Kalle Kalle, School Days: When We Got Our Results, and the web series STAGS.

In October 2018 Gaurav began working with the online platform Alright! as a screenplay writer and actor. He appeared in various comedy projects for the platform, including Date With A Comedian (featuring Anushka Sharma and Ambrish Verma), Friend with Benefits (with Ambrish Verma, Kritika Avasthi and Anushka Sharma), and Finding Love in a Cab (featuring Kritika Avasthi). He advanced within the company to chief assistant director and later to associate creative director in April 2022. In 2022 he directed a mini-TV series titled Date with Senior Office Romance.

As a writer, Gaurav scripted the TV miniseries Kuch Love Jaisa, which premiered on Disney+ Hotstar in 2021. He also wrote for Amazon projects in 2022, including the mini-TV series Dude and the second season of Backpackers II.
