Early life and background

Karthik Mahesh was born on 7 October in Mysore, Karnataka. He attended local schools in Mysore, including Marimallappa High School and St. Joseph's High School, before completing a Bachelor of Science degree at SBRR Mahajana First Grade College. Raised in Mysore, he later moved to Bangalore to pursue a career in performance.

From a young age Karthik trained in Kamsale, a traditional folk art connected with devotees of Mahadeshwara. He studied the form at JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science for around ten years, performing in dramas and developing an interest in comic and character work that ultimately motivated him to become an actor.

Career

Karthik began his working life in modeling, which led him to audition for television roles. His television debut came in 2015 with the serial Khushi on Star Suvarna, in which he played the character Vishnuvardhan. He went on to appear in a number of Kannada television serials, including Akka (2014–2015) on Jaya TV, Bangari (2017) on Colors Super, and Inthi Nimma Asha (2020). He has also taken supporting parts in mythological and historical dramas such as Shani (2018) on Colors Kannada and Mahakaali (2018).

Karthik has participated in a range of reality and variety programmes as well. In 2021 he appeared on the dance show Dance Dance on Star Suvarna, and on Valentine’s Day 2023 he performed on the Suvarna Deepotsava special. In 2022 he took part in the Star Suvarna serial Raaji and featured in Puttakkana Makkalu before leaving that production midway.

On the big screen, Karthik made a notable appearance in the 2022 film Dollu, playing the role of Bhadra. Dollu received a strong audience response and screened at multiple film festivals; the film also collected several awards. For his work in Dollu, Karthik earned nominations for Best Debutant Actor – Male at the Chittara Star Awards 2023 and Best Debut Actor at the SIIMA Awards the same year.
