Kathleen Genevieve Ledecky was born on March 17, 1997, and grew up in the Washington, D.C. area with roots in Bethesda, Maryland. She attended Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart for her secondary education and later accepted a scholarship to Stanford University, where she was due to begin in 2016.
