Kavita Kaushik was born on 15 February 1981 in Delhi and raised between Uttarakhand and Delhi. Her birth name was Anandita; her parents later changed it to Kavita based on an astrologer’s suggestion. She attended All Saint’s School in Nainital and earned a degree in philosophy from Indraprastha College for Women at Delhi University. Kavita is an only child, the daughter of Dinesh Chandra Kaushik, a retired CRPF officer, and Aparna Kaushik.

Career
Kavita began working as a host at events while still in college. Her earliest television work includes the soap Kutumb (2001), in which she played Sakshi Malhotra after being selected through an audition in New Delhi.
