Early life and background

Keerthi Pandian was born on 18 February 1992 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Raised in the city she calls home, she completed her schooling and college education at Chettinad Vidyashram, Chennai. The daughter of actor-filmmaker-politician Arun Pandian and Vijaya Pandian, Keerthi grew up in a family connected to the Tamil film world; she is also a cousin of actress Ramya Pandian and has two sisters, Kavitha and Kirana.

Career

Keerthi’s early training was in dance. She trained in ballet and salsa and has described dance as a form of meditation. Before appearing on screen she performed in theatre from around 2015 and worked as head of operations at A&P Groups, her father’s film company in Chennai. She later launched her own film company in Singapore.

Her on-screen debut came in 2019. That year she played Varsha Kumaran in the Tamil adventure film Thumbaa and also appeared in the ZEE5 web series Postman as Ragini. In 2021 she took on the lead role of Anbirkiniyal Sivam (Anbu) in Anbirkiniyal, the Tamil remake of the Malayalam film Helen, sharing the screen with her father. The performance contributed to the film being recognised as a strong South Indian thriller. In 2022 she returned to the stage in the theatre production Break Free.

Outside of acting, Keerthi has a wide range of interests. She is a trained ballet dancer and has cited ballet as her favourite dance form. She is also a fitness enthusiast who practices regular gym workouts. Adventurous activities such as scuba diving and skydiving are among her hobbies, and she enjoys travelling. During the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 she became interested in farming and cultivated crops on her property in Chennai.
