Khan Bhaini Biography
Khan Bhaini (born Salim Khan) is an Indian Punjabi singer and songwriter from Bhaini Mehraj, Barnala, known for viral tracks and a rise from lyricist to á
Early life and backgroundSalim Khan, professionally known as Khan Bhaini and sometimes called Khan Bhaini Wala or Bishbas Khan, was born on 26 October 1995 in Bhaini Mehraj, Barnala, Punjab, India. He grew up in a modest household; his father earned little and his mother did not work, a reality he later helped change by building a new house for his family after he began to earn from music.
Khan Bhaini attended Government Senior Secondary School in Bhaini Mehraj and went on to Guru Gobind Singh College in Sanghera, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts. During his school years he enjoyed drawing and regularly performed at assemblies and cultural events. He has described his singing talent as a natural gift and did not take formal vocal lessons.
Career
Khan Bhaini began in the Punjabi music scene as a lyricist. While in college he met music producer Jagraj Mander (Sycostyle), who encouraged him to write songs. He contributed as a songwriter for other artists, including work on Harsimran’s Dabka and a track titled 12 PM to 12 AM featuring Karan Aujla, as well as songs for Gulab Sidhu.
Feeling that lyricists did not receive enough recognition, he transitioned to performing and released his debut single Bille Bille Naina Waliye in 2019 under the Single Track Studios (STS) label. He moved to Mohali to expand his professional network and followed up with several releases: Gaddi Pichhe Naa featuring Shipra Goyal (November 2019), Proud To Be Desi featuring Canadian rapper Fateh Doe (September 2020), Lamborghini with Raj Shoker (2021), and Off Roading (2023). Some of his songs that gained notable attention include Nakhro, Munda India Ton, and 33.
Alongside recording, Khan has written songs for others and collaborated with producers and performers from the Punjabi music community. Before establishing himself in music, he worked transporting goods at the local grain market.
Public profile
Khan Bhaini is unmarried and is known to be single. He follows Islam and is reported to visit the mosque when he returns to his village. Physically, he is approximately 1.75 m (5'9") tall and around 65 kg in weight; his eye and hair colour are described as black. He has several tattoos, including designs on his right elbow and other music-related imagery.
He is often described by people from his village, former teachers and friends as humble and down-to-earth. He maintains ties with his hometown community and has been seen stopping to chat with local residents when he visits. A childhood friend, Teji Dhaliwal, appears frequently in his songs and helped produce several of his tracks.
Controversies and incidents
Khan Bhaini has been drawn into public discussions related to rivalries among other Punjabi singers. In 2021, some listeners interpreted lines from his songs as commentary on disputes involving Sidhu Moose Wala and Karan Aujla; Khan Bhaini has said his lyrics address the broader trend of conflict in music rather than targeting specific individuals. In February 2023, the music video for his song Naam Sunuga received a copyright strike on YouTube from an unknown source; the strike was later determined to be false and removed after he raised the issue publicly.
Personal notes and interests
He enjoys travelling, swimming and working out at the gym. Khan Bhaini is fond of dogs and owns a male Chow Chow. Family details listed include one brother, who works as a cattle feed supplier, and one sister; his family also includes a maternal niece named Muskan. In 2016 his brother-in-law Arshdeen, who worked as a truck driver in Saudi Arabia, died in a road accident.
