Early life and background
Kishore Nandlaskar was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, in 1941 and grew up in several neighborhoods across the city including Lamington Road, Nagpada and Ghatkopar. He attended New Era High School in Panchgani and Union High School in Mumbai before graduating from the University of Pune. His father, Khanderao Nandlashkar, taught him aspects of acting at an early age, and Kishore’s roots in the performing arts trace back to that family influence.

Career
Nandlaskar launched his acting journey on the Marathi stage. His stage debut came with the play Amrai, and over the years he appeared in more than 40 stage productions, including Chal Atap Jalvi, Bhramacha Bhopala, Pahuna, Shriman Smt, Bhole Dambis and One Room Kitchen. The last play he performed in was Nana Karte Pyaar.

He transitioned to film and television while maintaining his strong ties to Marathi theatre. His first Marathi feature was Ina Mina Dika (1989), and he made his Hindi film debut in Vaastav: The Reality (1999). Across Marathi cinema, some of his noted titles include Dhamal Bablya Ganpyachi (1990), Karamati Coat (1993), Purna Satya (1997), Ishhya (2006), Yedyanchi Jatra (2012) and Huntash (2017).

In Hindi films, Nandlaskar earned recognition for a memorable comic turn as the character ‘Sannata’ in Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hain (2000). He also appeared in Khakee (2004), Singham (2011) and Simmba (2018). Over the course of his career he worked in roughly 30 films across Marathi and Hindi, and he was part of about 20 television serials as well. He was particularly known for playing comic supporting roles and for bringing gentle, character-driven humor to his parts.

Public profile
Nandlaskar’s personal circumstances occasionally entered the public eye. Early in his career he lived in a small house in Bhoiwada-Paral with his family and, at one point, slept at a nearby temple due to lack of space. That situation prompted then-Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh to allot him a house in Borivali. He owned a home in Nagpada and two flats in Mumbai, and his vehicles included a Toyota Innova and a Toyota Fortuner; he also owned a bus that he rented out.

Health and later years
Kishore Nandlaskar underwent bypass surgery after experiencing shortness of breath and palpitations. Colleagues described him as introverted, and friends noted he faced periods of personal difficulty and depression which at times affected his living arrangements and relationships with family.

Family
Nandlaskar was married and is survived by three sons and at least one grandson, Anish Nandlaskar. His mother’s name is not publicly documented in the available information; his father is recorded as Khanderao Nandlashkar. He shared a close professional bond with co-stars such as Usha Nadkarni, who spoke about their friendship in interviews.

Latest updates
In April 2021 Nandlaskar tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted to a COVID-19 center in Thane after developing breathing difficulties. He died at the center on 20 April 2021 at the age of 80.

Legacy
Across decades of work on stage, television and screen, Kishore Nandlaskar built a reputation as a reliable character actor and a familiar comic presence in both Marathi and Hindi projects. His body of work includes extensive theatre credits, television serials and a slate of films that span regional and mainstream Indian cinema.
