Koushani Mukherjee was born on 17 May 1992 in Kolkata, West Bengal. Raised in a middle-class family, she completed her schooling at Assembly of God Church School on Park Street and went on to graduate from Heramba Chandra College with a B.Com degree. Her father, Rana Mukherjee, worked as an income-tax officer and has been cited by Koushani as an inspiration. Her mother is Sangita Mukherjee. She has no siblings.

Career

Koushani began her public career in 2015 when she entered the P.C. Chandra Goldlites Diva contest. She won the competition and earned the sub-titles "Beautiful Smile" and "Beautiful Hair." While taking part in the contest she was noticed by major Bengali production houses and director Raj Chakraborty, which opened the door to film offers.

Her screen debut came the same year in the Bengali film Parbona Ami Chartey Tokey, in which she played the role of Aparna Roy. The film was successful and brought her wider recognition.
