Early life and background

Krishi Thapanda was born on 23 September 1989 in Coorg, Karnataka. She grew up in the state and attended Chinmaya Vidyalaya for her school education. For higher studies she enrolled at HAL College in Karnataka, where she completed a diploma in Information Science. During her diploma years she also trained to fly microlights.

Her family includes her mother, Latha Thapanda, and a younger brother. Her father served in the army. Krishi has described herself as active and health-conscious, and she enjoys travel and sharing photographs from her trips on social media.

Career

Krishi began her public career after winning the Miss Karnataka title in 2014. She moved into the entertainment industry, making her film debut in 2016 with Akira, in which she played the role of Lavanya. The following year she earned a nomination for Best Debut Actress (Kannada) at the South Indian International Movie Awards for her work in that film.

On screen she has taken leading roles in several Kannada films, including Eradu Kanasu (2017), Dalapathi (2018), Ira (2018), Lanke (2021) where she portrayed the character Paavani, Blank (2022), and Rupayi, which released in February 2023. Beyond films, Krishi has appeared in fashion shows such as the Deccan Herald Metro Life seventh-year fashion event in 2017.

Krishi also participated in reality television. She was a contestant on Bigg Boss Kannada season 5, entering the show in 2017 and remaining until her elimination in the twelfth week. She had previously declined an offer to join Bigg Boss season 4.

Before focusing on acting full time, Krishi worked in Bengaluru at an InterCall company, rising to the position of assistant manager before leaving to pursue opportunities in modeling and film. She is also an entrepreneur and owns a clothing brand called Beeru.
