Early life and background

Kristina Gurung Khadka was born on 7 December 1997 in Kathmandu, Nepal. Raised in a family with roots in the Gurung and Khadka communities, she spent her childhood in Kathmandu and lists dancing, travelling and watching movies among her interests. She attended Sarvodaya School in Chitwan before studying at Kantipur English High School in Kathmandu.

After completing her higher secondary education, Kristina moved to the United States in 2018 to pursue undergraduate studies. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Prior to focusing on acting, she worked as an accountant in Nepal.

Career

Kristina had long harboured the ambition to become an actress. She is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and has appeared in print media, including the cover of the Nepali women's magazine Nari in 2020.

Her first film role came in 2022 when she was cast as Geet in the Indo-Nepali production Prem Geet 3. The film, produced by Subhash Kale, was positioned as an Indo-Nepali release and Kristina has said she was selected for the role from a large audition pool. Prem Geet 3 marked her debut in Nepali cinema, and the project was noted by its producers for aiming to reach audiences in India as well as Nepal.
