Krithi Krithivasan was born in 1965 in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. He attended E. R. Higher Secondary School in Tiruchirappalli from 1975 to 1981 before moving on to higher education in engineering. Krithivasan earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the Coimbatore Institute of Technology (1981–1985) and later completed a master’s level program in Industrial and Management Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (1986–1987).

Career

Krithivasan joined Tata Consultancy Services in 1989 and spent more than 30 years with the company, rising through roles that covered delivery, customer relationship management, and sales. Over the course of his career at TCS he held senior leadership positions including executive vice president and, later, president and global head of the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) Business Group.

His work at TCS encompassed governance of IT programs, driving value beyond cost reduction, accelerating organizational change management cycles, and leading digital transformation initiatives for clients. Krithivasan also served on several TCS boards and supervisory bodies, including the Board of Directors of TCS Iberoamerica and TCS Ireland, as well as the supervisory board of TCS Technology Solutions AG.

In 2023 TCS announced that Krithivasan would take over as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer effective 15 September 2023, succeeding Rajesh Gopinathan in that role.
