Early life and background

Krithi Shetty was born on 21 September 2003 in Mangalore, Karnataka. Raised in a family with roots in the Tulu community, she is the only child of Krishna Shetty, a businessman, and Neethi Shetty, a fashion designer. She grew up speaking multiple languages and is reported to be fluent in Hindi, English, Tamil, Tulu and Telugu.

Krithi initially enrolled in medical studies but later changed course, completing a degree in psychology at Bangalore University as her acting commitments intensified. Her food preference is non-vegetarian and she identifies with the Virgo zodiac sign.

Career

Krithi began her career in front of the camera with modelling and television advertisements. She featured in commercials for a number of consumer brands early on, and it was through one of these ads that filmmaker Buchi Babu Sana noticed her and offered her a film role.

Following Uppena, she appeared in several Telugu films including Shyam Singha Roy (2021), Bangarraju (2022), Macherla Niyojakavargam (2022), Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali (2022) and the bilingual Telugu–Tamil film Custody (2023). She also made her Tamil film debut with The Warriorr (2023), playing the role of "Whistle" Mahalakshmi.

Krithi's work on Uppena was recognized with a cluster of newcomer and performance awards in 2022. She received Best Female Debut honours from South Filmfare Awards South and the South Indian International Movie Awards, Best Debut Actress from the Sakshi Excellence Award, a Best Actor Critics (Female) Telugu award at the Behinwoods Gold Medals, and a Sensational Star of the Year award from the Galatta Crown Awards.
