Early life and background

Kriti Sanon was born on 27 July 1990 in New Delhi. She grew up in the city where she attended Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram, and later earned a B. Tech. degree in Electronics and Telecommunication from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology in Noida. Her family includes her father Rahul Sanon, a chartered accountant, her mother Geeta Sanon, who has worked as a professor at Delhi University, and a younger sister, Nupur Sanon.

Sanon’s early interests combined both athletic and artistic pursuits. She trained in Kathak dance and competed as a state-level boxer. While still a student, a photograph taken by her sister helped launch her modelling path: she entered and won a contest that led to a professional portfolio and a year-long modelling contract. She balanced ramp work and brand assignments alongside her studies before moving to Mumbai after receiving job offers through campus placements but choosing a different direction.

Career

Kriti Sanon made her screen debut in 2014 with the Bollywood film Heropanti, which brought her early recognition. The same year she also appeared in the Telugu film Nenokkadine. Her performance in Heropanti earned multiple debut awards, including a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut and other honours recognising her as a successful new face in Hindi cinema.

Over the years Sanon has continued to build her filmography and public profile, winning awards and industry recognition. In 2018 she was named Rising Star of the Year at the Hello Hall of Fame and received a Style Icon award at the IIFA ceremony that year. Her work in the film Mimi delivered further accolades: in 2022 she won the Filmfare Award and the International Indian Film Academy Award for Best Actress for that performance, and in 2023 she received the National Film Award for Best Actress for the same role.

Sanon has also been recognized for her style and entrepreneurial pursuits. She collected a range of style and beauty awards between 2019 and 2026, including recognitions focused on beauty entrepreneurship in 2024 and 2025. Her more recent acting honours include several awards in 2025 for performances in Do Patti and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, and a Best Actor (Female) award in 2026 at the 24th Zee Cine Awards for Tere Ishk Mein.

Public profile

Before films Sanon modelled for major Indian brands across advertising and print campaigns and began walking ramps professionally from around 2009. She is known for a polished public image that blends fashion, fitness and beauty entrepreneurship. Her reported physical stats include a height of 178 cm (5'10") with brown eyes and black hair.

Personal interests she has spoken about include meditation, cooking and watching cricket. Her favourite foods reportedly include chocolates and cheesecakes, and she has cited a mix of Indian and international screen icons among performers she admires. She has a penchant for certain designers and fragrances, and has been associated with high-end cars as part of her public lifestyle profile.
