Early life and background
Kushal Punjabi was born on 23 April 1982 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He grew up in a family with roots in Karachi on his father’s side and Hyderabad on his mother’s. From an early age he was active in sports and the performing arts, taking part in cycling, skating, football, athletics, swimming and dance during his school and college years.

After finishing his formal education, Punjabi explored several careers before settling into entertainment. He completed a bartending course and worked briefly as a bartender, later serving as a purser with Jet Airways. He also spent time in Dubai working as a life insurance agent and financial consultant.

Career
Kushal’s onscreen career began in the mid-1990s. His earliest recorded screen credits include a short film titled Bombay (1996) and television work on A Mouthful of Sky, which aired on DD Metro in 1995.
