Early life and background

Lakshya Sen was born on 16 August 2001 in Almora, Uttarakhand, and grew up in the same town. His father, Dhirendra K Sen, is a badminton coach and his mother, Nirmala Dhirendra Sen, worked as a teacher. Lakshya attended Beersheba Senior Secondary School in Haldwani and later joined the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy in Bengaluru to pursue more focused training. He has an older brother, Chirag Sen, who is also an international badminton player.

Career

Sen made his international junior debut at the 2016 Badminton Asia Junior Championships in Bangkok. Early success arrived quickly: he earned a bronze at the Junior Asian Championship the same year, rose to the top of the BWF World Junior singles ranking in February 2017, and added further junior medals, including bronze at the World Junior Championships and gold at the Asian Junior Championships in 2018.
