Lavanya Tripathi was born on 15 December 1990 in Faizabad (now in Ayodhya), Uttar Pradesh, and grew up in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. She completed her schooling at Marshall School in Dehradun and went on to graduate in Economics from colleges in Mumbai. Raised in a Hindu Brahmin family, her parents are Ratan Tripathi, who works as a lawyer, and Kiran Bala Tiwari, a retired teacher. She has two elder siblings: Sidharth Ratan Tripathi and Shivani Tripathi, the latter serving as an assistant commissioner of state tax.
