Early life and background
Lachlan Hammond Ferguson, known universally as Lockie Ferguson, was born on 13 June 1991 in Auckland, New Zealand. He grew up in Auckland, attended Auckland Grammar School and later completed a Bachelor of Business in Advertising and Marketing at Auckland University of Technology. Ferguson came through local pathways in Auckland, training at Parnell Cricket Club and representing Auckland age-group and second XI sides before establishing himself in the senior Auckland team.

Ferguson is a right-arm fast bowler who made his international debuts across formats in the latter half of the 2010s. He played his first One Day International for New Zealand on 4 December 2016 against Australia, made his Twenty20 International debut on 3 January 2017 versus Bangladesh, and played his first Test on 12 December 2019 against Australia in Perth.
