Lokesh Rajendran was born in 1988 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He grew up in the city that would remain central to his life and career. His physical features included black hair and black eyes. Lokesh was an Indian national and, at the time of his death, was 34 years old.

Career

Lokesh started working in the entertainment industry as a child artist. His early television work included appearances in serials from the mid-1990s; he portrayed younger versions of lead characters in shows such as the Marmadesam series, and later appeared in other serials including Jee Boomba. As a child actor he also featured in several Tamil films around the turn of the millennium, including Kummi Paattu (1999), Kannupada Poguthaiya (2000) and Kaakai Chirakiniley (2000).

Transitioning away from solely on-screen roles, Lokesh expanded into filmmaking and behind-the-camera work. He served as an associate director or second unit director on titles including Ambuli and Aaaah (credited in connection with the 2010/2012 period) and Orr Eravuu (2014). On 2 October 2022 Lokesh was discovered unconscious at the Koyambedu bus station and was taken to Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital. Hospital reports indicated he had consumed poison. He was admitted to the intensive care unit and remained under treatment. On 4 October 2022 he died in Chennai at the age of 34. Authorities registered a case under the relevant section of the Criminal Procedure Code. Family statements and police reports noted a recent period of depression and problems at home, and indicated that Lokesh had been consuming alcohol and had been sleeping at the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus on occasion.
