Lukanand Kshetrimayum was born on 8 September 2002 in Imphal, Manipur, where he grew up in a middle-class family. His parents are Ksh Bimal and Elangbam Sujata. He attended Maria Montessori Senior School in Imphal and took part in school filmmaking competitions during his student years.

Career

Lukanand began making films at an early age and has worked primarily in Manipuri cinema and media. He directed several teleplays during his youth, including Ram Lakshman and Thambal Pareng in 2010 and T.A.K in 2011. He also directed the documentary Sangai in 2013 and the film Asengba Saktam in 2014.

One of his notable feature credits is Meitan Araba, which premiered at the Manipur State Film Development Society in Imphal on 6 January 2019. The film went on to receive recognition at the state level, earning two Manipuri State Film Awards and multiple SSS MANIFA awards. For his work behind the camera, Lukanand received a Best Film Director Award for Meitan Araba and a Governor’s Award for Best Student in Co-curricular Activities in 2019.

Alongside filmmaking, Lukanand has released songs in the Manipuri language, with titles that include Emotionless (2014), Laibak Pheida (2021) and Hanglanu (2021). He expanded into modeling and print work beginning in 2016, shooting for regional apparel brands and walking shows. In 2019 he served as showstopper for Wangkhei Phee Mantri’s Handloom Fashion Showcase and won the Garnier Men Mega Mister North East contest held in Guwahati, also earning the Mister International India title on that platform.

His pageant success continued on the international stage in 2022 when he represented India at the 14th Mr International competition held at New Frontier Theater in Cubao, Quezon City, Philippines. Competing among thirty-five contestants, he finished as the first runner-up at the Grand Finale on 30 October 2022 and received a special Mister Dermaworld International award at the event.
