Madhulika Raje Singh Rawat was born on 7 February 1963 in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh. She completed her schooling at Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya in Gwalior and went on to study at Delhi University, graduating with a degree in psychology. Her family’s ancestral residence was Rajabagh in Shahdol, where she maintained ties throughout her life.

Thirteen of the fourteen people on board were killed; one passenger survived. Madhulika Rawat died in the crash at age 58. Her cremation took place on 10 December 2021 at Brar Square crematorium in Delhi Cantonment, where her body and that of her husband were laid side by side on the same pyre.
