Mamta Sharma was born on 7 September 1980 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, and grew up in the Birla Nagar neighbourhood. She attended Saint Paul's School in Morar and later moved to Mumbai, where she enrolled at Nalanda Academy. Her formal education includes a bachelor's degree in fine arts. From a young age she performed at local gatherings and religious events, and an early singing teacher recognised her vocal ability, encouraging further training and performances.

Career

Sharma launched her career as a playback singer in Hindi films with a debut appearance in the 2008 movie Gumnaam: The Mystery. She rose to national attention after lending her voice to the song 'Munni Badnaam Hui' from the 2010 film Dabangg, which became broadly associated with her name.

Following that breakthrough, she recorded several songs across Hindi films, including Pal Pal Na Maane Tinkujiya (2011), Anarkali Disco Chali (2012), Aa Re Pritam Pyaare (2012), Fevicol Se (2012), and Taang Uthake (2016).
