Early life and backgroundManasi Kirloskar was born on 7 August 1990 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Raised as an only child in a family with a strong tradition of women participating in business leadership, she grew up surrounded by discussions on public affairs and enterprise. Her parents encouraged her artistic interests from an early age, and she developed a strong interest in painting, classical Indian performing arts and music while attending school in Bengaluru.
She completed her schooling at Mallya Aditi International School and went on to study at the Rhode Island School of Design in the United States, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts. During her youth she pursued kathak, tabla and Hindustani classical singing, and at age 13 she held her first solo painting exhibition in Bengaluru.
Career
After returning to India, Manasi began working in the family business. She undertook three years of training at Toyota Kirloskar Motor and then worked with the Lexus division, where she gained exposure to manufacturing, quality control practices, Japanese workplace culture and commercial operations.
Within the Kirloskar group she has held several senior roles, including Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of Kirloskar Systems Ltd., and director positions at Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited, Kirloskar Technologies Ltd., and Toyota Tsusho Insurance Broker India Pvt. Ltd. She was involved in setting up the group’s real estate arm and helped establish a financial services division alongside her mother.
Her project experience spans large-scale residential and commercial developments and healthcare interior design. Early in her career she led interiors for a tertiary care hospital in Sakra, introducing a colorful approach to patient spaces. She later worked on major projects in Bengaluru, including a residential development and a commercial project each valued at over a thousand crore rupees, as well as rural healthcare initiatives.
Following the death of her father, Vikram Kirloskar, in 2022, Manasi was appointed as a director on the boards of several joint-venture companies associated with Kirloskar Systems, including Toyota Industries Engine India Pvt Ltd, Kirloskar Toyota Textile Machinery Pvt Ltd, Toyota Material Handling India Pvt Ltd and Denso Kirloskar Industries Pvt Ltd.

Manasi has combined her interest in the arts with social impact work. She founded Caring with Colour, an initiative that partners with government schools across districts in Karnataka to teach arts with the twin goals of improving academic engagement and using creative methods for early identification and support of mental-health needs. During her student years she was named the first Young Business Champion for the Sustainable Development Goals in India by the United Nations.
