Mannara Chopra was born Barbie Handa on 29 March 1991 in Ambala Cantonment, Haryana. Raised in a family with ties to the film industry, she completed her schooling at Summer Fields School in New Delhi and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). She practices Hinduism and grew up in Ambala, a hometown she continues to be associated with.

Mannara comes from a family engaged in creative and professional pursuits. Her father, Raman Rai Handa, worked as a lawyer and passed away on 16 June 2025. Her mother, Kamini Chopra Handa, is a jewellery designer associated with BMB Jewels. Mannara’s sister, Mitali Handa, is an entrepreneur and fashion stylist. She is also related to actors Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra through her mother’s side of the family.

Career

Mannara began her career in modelling following the completion of her education. She appeared in television commercials for brands such as Dulux, Parle and Suzuki, and later walked the runway as a showstopper at fashion events including Asian Designer Week (2016) and India Runway Week (2017). Before films, she worked as a fashion designer and as an assistant choreographer.

Her film debut came in 2014, the year she appeared in two regional debuts: Zid, a Hindi film in which she played the role of Maya, and the Telugu film Prema Geema Jantha Nai, in which she portrayed Kaveri.
