Maya Sundarakrishnan was born on 15 April 1991 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Raised in a family with three sisters, she completed her schooling at TVS Lakshmi Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Madurai and pursued an engineering degree at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in Bangalore. She later supplemented her education with a certified acting course from the South Indian Artistes' Association in Chennai in 2016.
