Early life and backgroundMayank Anurag Agarwal was born on 16 February 1991 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Raised in the city he calls home, he attended Bishop Cotton Boys' School and later studied at Jain University in Bengaluru. From an early age he idolised Sachin Tendulkar and that influence helped shape his ambition to pursue cricket professionally.
Career
A right-handed opening batter, Agarwal established himself across domestic and franchise cricket before breaking into the Indian team. He has represented Karnataka at the state level and has appeared for several Indian Premier League franchises, including Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rising Pune Supergiants. In the IPL he wears jersey number 14 for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Mayank's international debut came in the Test arena on 26 December 2018 against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. He later made his One Day International debut on 5 February 2020 versus New Zealand at Seddon Park. He has not played international T20 cricket.
Notable performances and records in his career include being India Under-19's leading run-scorer at the 2010 Under-19 World Cup. In domestic and IPL cricket he has played several notable innings; early in his IPL career he produced quickfire contributions for Royal Challengers Bangalore, including an aggressive 31-ball 41 against Mumbai Indians.
