Early life and backgroundMayur Jumani was born on 14 April 1992 in Mumbai. He grew up in the city where he began learning piano at a young age and developed an early interest in music. He completed a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science at Thadomal Shahani Engineering College in Mumbai before deciding to pursue music more seriously.
Following his engineering degree, Jumani moved into the technology sector and worked at Directi in Mumbai as a User Experience Designer beginning in June 2013. While working full time he continued to write music and perform at small venues, balancing a professional career in IT with musical pursuits.
Career
After two years in the tech industry, Jumani left his IT job to study music full time. He enrolled in the Master’s programme in Music Production, Technology & Innovation at Berklee College of Music in Spain, where he served as a Production Graduate Assistant and participated in campus events such as Innovation ¡En Vivo! and TEDxBerkleeValencia.
In July 2016 he relocated to Calabasas, California, working in product development until June 2017. Early in 2017 he performed in Los Angeles with the Hollywood Light Orchestra, combining electronic music with live orchestral elements. Later that year he returned to Mumbai and launched a solo project called Inhew, which aimed to recreate the studio environment on stage through cross-genre electronic collaborations.
Back in Mumbai, he joined the teaching faculty at Beatfactory Academy and remained on the faculty until January 2021. After leaving teaching, he focused on composing and producing music full time. His composing work spans Bollywood films, commercial projects, web series and independent music. He has contributed trailer scores for several Bollywood films and provided music for web series; his credits include trailers for Fukrey Returns (2017), Pari (2018), Mitron (2018), Dabbang 3 (2019), Baaghi 3 (2020), Gunjan Saxena (2020) and Guilty (2020), and music for web series including Hear Me Love Me (2018) and Bandish Bandits (2020).
In 2019 he composed the songs "Guide" and "Troubled Land" for the Bollywood film Bypass Road, released via T-Series. Throughout his career he has collaborated with established composers and artists including Vishal Dadlani, Sneha Khanwalkar, Kailash Kher and Shilpa Rao, among others. He also produced music for the IPML’s Mumbai Team.
Digital content and Aux Media
Alongside traditional composition, Jumani built a public presence through audio-focused content and meme mixes on social media. He created viral mashups and remix clips that rose to prominence during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. Notable viral pieces include mixes built around public figures and pop-culture dialogue, and the meme mix Jalebi Baby 90’s version, which repurposed Tesher’s track with an old advertisement dialogue and gained wide use in Instagram Reels.
