Early life and background

Mehreen Pirzada was born on 5 November 1993 in Bathinda, Punjab. She grew up moving between different Indian cities, including Ajmer and Gurgaon, and attended convent schooling in Punjab before studying at Mayo College Girls School, Ajmer, and Pathways World School, Aravali. In school she took part in extracurricular activities such as the National Cadet Corps and the Interact Club, where she held leadership roles. She also competed in air pistol events and qualified for pre-national level competitions while still at school.

Pirzada pursued business studies and enrolled at a business school in New York. While in college she developed an interest in acting and relocated to Mumbai to pursue a film career. As a child she appeared in pageants and modelling events, having walked the ramp at age ten and later winning the Miss Personality title at the Miss South Asia Canada pageant in 2013.

Career

Mehreen began her onscreen career with modelling assignments and music videos before moving into feature films. Her film debut came in 2016 with the Telugu film Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha, in which she played Mahalakshmi. The success of that film helped establish her in the Telugu industry, and she received recognition early on, including an entertainer award for her debut.

Following her Telugu debut, she appeared in a string of films across multiple languages. In 2017 she had roles in the Hindi film Phillauri and several Telugu films including Mahanubhavudu, Raja the Great, C/o Surya and Jawaan. She went on to act in Tamil cinema, appearing in films such as Nenjil Thunivirundhal and later NOTA, and she continued to build a presence in Telugu cinema with titles like Pantham, F2: Fun and Frustration, Entha Manchivaadavuraa and Manchi Rojulochaie.

Pirzada expanded into Punjabi films with DSP Dev in 2019 and later appeared in Ardab Mutiyaran. She has also worked in Tamil projects including Pattas and Spark. In 2023 she played Sanjana in the Disney+ Hotstar period crime thriller series Sultan of Delhi, a project adapted from Arnab Ray’s book and directed by Milan Luthria.

Beyond films she has modelled for brands and featured in advertising campaigns and magazine covers. Her early modelling included work with design houses and participation in commercial shoots; she has been associated with brands such as Dove India, Nikon, Pears and Thumbs Up. Pirzada has appeared in music videos, notably for Punjabi singer Sharry Mann and in a 2020 Hindi song by Armaan Malik and Tulsi Kumar.
