Mia Khalifa Biography

Mia Khalifa, born Sarah Joe Chamoun in Beirut in 1993, is a former adult performer who has since moved into fashion design, sports commentary and other on‑

Early life and background

Sarah Joe Chamoun was born on February 10, 1993, in Beirut, Lebanon. Raised in a Catholic family, she attended a French-language school in Beirut before emigrating to the United States in 2001. She completed secondary education at Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, Virginia, and went on to study at the University of Texas at El Paso, where she earned a BA in History.

Career

Chamoun adopted the professional name Mia Khalifa when she entered the adult film industry in October 2014. Her time in that industry was brief but highly visible: at age 22 she quickly became one of the most searched performers on major adult websites, and by the end of 2014 she had reached the top rank on one leading platform. Those appearances brought intense public attention and, at times, serious threats.

After leaving adult films, Khalifa shifted her professional focus. She has worked as a webcam model and later branched into roles as a sports commentator and entrepreneur. She moved into fashion design and in July 2023 launched a jewellery and lifestyle brand called Sheytan. Khalifa has also been involved in public-facing media projects and commentary around sports, reflecting long-standing personal interests in American football and lacrosse.

Public profile

Khalifa’s rapid rise in visibility during 2014–2016 prompted widespread discussion across mainstream and social media. In addition to achievements on adult platforms, she has been the subject of cultural references such as a 2015 song that named her and several rankings in media outlets. Her profile has also resulted in severe backlash at times, including online death threats after her initial notoriety and criticism related to public statements she made in 2023. Those 2023 posts led to the termination of a magazine association and the loss of a podcast opportunity.

Personal life

Khalifa holds both Lebanese and American nationalities and describes herself as no longer religious. She has a number of tattoos that reference her Lebanese heritage. She has been married twice; public information lists a first marriage that began in 2011 and ended in 2014, and a later marriage to Robert Sandberg, an American chef, that lasted from 2019 to 2020. Her reported hobbies include watching and playing football and lacrosse, listening to music, watching movies, hanging out with friends, and cooking. She has spoken openly about having worked at a Whataburger restaurant prior to entering the adult industry.

Public stances and controversies

Khalifa’s public commentary has at times stirred controversy. She faced severe criticism and threats following content that many in the Middle East found offensive during her time in adult entertainment. More recently, posts she made during the Israel–Hamas conflict in 2023 drew criticism and professional consequences. She addressed the reaction publicly and stated that her intention was not to promote violence. Khalifa has also spoken about body image and transparency, sharing personal experiences such as cosmetic surgery and urging followers not to idolize social media portrayals.

Latest updates

In addition to her entrepreneurial work with Sheytan, Khalifa continues to maintain a public presence through commentary and media appearances. Her interests in sports remain a consistent theme across her public activity, and she has used her platform to discuss a range of topics from personal health and appearance to current events.
