Early life and background

Minissha Lamba was born on 18 January 1985 in Aurangabad, Maharashtra and grew up in New Delhi. She attended Chettinad Vidyashram School in Chennai and Army Public School in Srinagar before studying at Miranda House, Delhi University, where she completed a BA in English (Hons.). As a child she appeared in print commercials and continued to work in advertising through her college years.

Career

Lamba moved from Delhi to Mumbai to pursue modelling and acting. Early commercial work for brands such as Sunsilk, LG, Airtel and Cadbury brought her visibility and led to a screen opportunity: director Shoojit Sarkar cast her in the 2005 Hindi film Yahaan, which marked her feature debut as Adaa.

After Yahaan, she worked across Hindi cinema in films including Corporate (2006), Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. (2007), Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008), Bheja Fry 2 (2011), Zilla Ghaziabad (2013) and Bhoomi (2017). Her performance as Muskaan Ali in the 2009 Shyam Benegal film Well Done Abba was part of a project that received the National Film Award for Best Film on Social Issues for that year.

Lamba’s on-screen work has extended beyond feature films. She appeared in the 2008 television serial Chhoona Hai Aasmaan and took part in the reality series Bigg Boss Season 8 in 2014. She has acted in television dramas such as Tenali Rama and Internet Wala Love in 2018 and participated in the celebrity cricket tournament Super Star League in 2019. Her screen credits also include the Punjabi film Double Di Trouble (2014) and the 2012 music video Tera Suroor Remix by Himesh Reshammiya. In 2023 she played Haily in the Amazon Mini TV web series Badtameez Dil.
