Mita Vashisht, often credited as Meeta, was born on 2 November 1967 in Jatal Village, Pune, Maharashtra. Raised in a middle-class family, she is the daughter of Captain Rajeshwar Dutt Vashisht, a retired Indian Army officer, and Meenakshi Mehta Vashisht, who worked as a singer and teacher. After completing postgraduate studies in English literature, Vashisht trained in acting at the National School of Drama in Delhi and studied at Panjab University in Chandigarh.

Career

Vashisht’s screen career began in 1989 with a role in the Hindi film Chandni and a television appearance the same year in the science-fiction series Space City Sigma. Over the following decades she built a diverse body of work spanning mainstream and off-beat cinema, regional films, television serials, web series and theatre.
