Raised in a family with strong ties to the region, he spent his early cricketing years training locally at DNS Academy in Amroha. He is Muslim and grew up in a household where his father worked as a farmer and ran a spare-parts shop before his death in 2017. Kaif later moved to Kolkata in 2016 after repeated trials in Uttar Pradesh failed to land him spots in junior state teams.
Career
Kaif developed as a bowling allrounder who bats right-handed and bowls right-arm medium fast. He began playing club cricket with Town Club, representing them between 2016 and 2020, and wore the #12 jersey for that side. His performances at club level included a notable innings in the 2020 Bengal T20 Challenge where he scored 58 off 24 balls, striking a number of boundaries.
He progressed into Bengal's age-group and senior setups, playing for Bengal Under-23 from 2019 to 2021 and earning selection for Bengal's senior team from 2021 onward.
