Mohammed Shami was born on 3 September 1990 in Sahaspur Alinagar, Amroha in Uttar Pradesh. Raised in a family with a farming background, he grew up in Amroha and attended Amir Hasan Khan PG College in Moradabad. From an early age he showed a commitment to cricket, arriving at practice early and working extensively on his bowling. His father recognised his potential and introduced him to coach Badruddin Siddique, a mentor who played a key role in Shami’s development.

Career

Shami progressed through regional and domestic ranks after moving to Kolkata to avoid losing a year of opportunity. He played for clubs and state sides including Bengal Under-22, Cricket Association of Bengal XI, East Zone and Bengal in first-class cricket.
