Mohit Chhikara was born on 30 October 1993 in Delhi, India, and grew up in a family with roots in Sonipat, Haryana. He attended Delhi Public School and went on to study mechanical engineering at the Delhi Institute of Technology & Management. His father served as a deputy security officer before retirement, and Mohit has two sisters, Jyoti Chhikara Bhuwal and Bindu Chikkara.

During his college years he took part in dance and acting and competed on stage, including walking the ramp for a prominent fashion event where he earned trophies on more than one occasion.
