Mohit Marwah was born on 26 August 1984 in New Delhi, India. Raised in a Punjabi family with roots tracing back to Peshawar, he grew up in a household connected to the Indian film industry; his parents are the owners of Marwah Studios in Noida. He attended Don Bosco School in Kolkata and later studied at the University of Delhi. Mohit pursued formal film training at the Asian Academy of Film & Television in Noida and continued his studies at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York.

Marwah began his career working behind the camera, serving as an assistant director under filmmaker Vikram Bhatt.
