Monu is from the Deori clan and was raised Hindu; he describes himself as a spiritual person who follows Lord Krishna.

As a child and teenager he trained in karate. While still in school he began performing at local stage shows as a singer and dancer, laying the groundwork for a career in performance and entertainment.

Career

Monu’s on-screen debut came in 2018 when he appeared as a dancer in the music video Biskut Bepari by Milan Migha Deori. He later featured in several regional music videos, including Man Paagla and Bohag Bisu in 2020, and Badtameez and Afterlife in 2021. In 2021 he also lent his voice to the regional song Lo Hoi Kesari.

During the COVID-19 lockdown Monu began creating short comic videos on TikTok. He has recalled facing connectivity challenges in his village — at times travelling several kilometres to upload content — and after TikTok was banned in India he shifted his focus to YouTube. In 2020 he launched a vlog channel called Monu official, where his comic sketches and collaborations with known personalities helped him build an audience.

Monu’s content has included mock videos that gained traction on social media, including a notable sketch involving the actor Urfi Javed and a staged confrontation with Deepak Kalal. Beyond online sketches, Monu continues to perform dance and comic acts at live events and stage shows.

His television and digital pursuits include auditions for national reality shows. In 2021 he auditioned for India’s Best Dancer on Sony TV, and in 2022 he tried out for Hunarbaaz: Desh Ki Shaan (Colors TV) and Dance India Dance (Zee TV). In 2023 he appeared on the digital series Playground 2, streamed on Amazon miniTV.

Monu stands about 168 cm tall (approximately 5 feet 6 inches). He has black hair and black eyes. Known by the nickname Luthuk in certain circles, he presents himself as a non-vegetarian who enjoys simple foods such as chicken soup and boiled vegetables. Some of his YouTube videos also depict him drinking rice beer.

On the personal side, Monu is unmarried. He has spoken publicly about a past relationship in which he dated a girl from his village for about a year before she married someone else. He has expressed an interest in participating in larger reality shows such as Bigg Boss.
