Early life and background

Munawar Iqbal Faruqui was born on 28 January 1992 in Junagadh, Gujarat. His family moved to Mumbai, settling in the Dongri neighbourhood, and he grew up in Dongri, Mumbai. Faruqui has described a difficult early life: his home was affected by the 2002 communal riots in Gujarat, his mother died when he was a teenager, and his father later became ill. He took on family responsibilities at a young age and worked a variety of jobs while continuing his education and learning skills such as graphic design.

Career

Faruqui found his way into comedy after being asked to deliver a couple of lines while posing as an audience member on the set of an advertisement. That small stage moment encouraged him to attend open mics, and he quickly became a notable presence on the local circuit. He performed his first one-hour Gujarati show, Dodh Dahyo, in Mumbai in July 2019 and began uploading stand-up material to his self-titled YouTube channel in January 2020.
