Early life and background

Nakul Roshan Sahdev was born on 5 January 1995 in Udaipur, Rajasthan. He grew up in Udaipur and completed his schooling at Saint Paul’s Sr. Sec. School. Though enrolled at NMIMS, Mumbai for BCom (Hons) according to his parents' wishes, he gravitated toward performance and formal acting training instead, taking a course at Whistling Woods International in Mumbai.

Career

Sahdev began working in the industry behind the scenes in 2008, joining Excel Entertainment as an assistant casting director and later working with Dharma Productions in casting. He moved into acting with a television debut on Disney Channel’s Ishaan in 2010, playing the character Kabir, and followed with an early film appearance in Mod (2011) as Andrew Raymond.

Over the next decade he built a varied résumé across film, television, web series and short films. He appeared in Jo Dooba So Paar: It’s Love in Bihar! (2011) and featured in TV projects including Best Friends Forever? (2012) and MTV Fanaah: An Impossible Love Story (2014). His short-film credits as an actor and producer include Hold My Hand: Altair & Vega (2013), Strings (2017), Religion For Dummies (2018), Karma Café (2019) and the co-produced Rubaroo (2016). He also worked as a producer on the short film Dali.

Sahdev gained wider visibility with a credited role as Salman in the 2019 film Gully Boy, a performance that drew positive attention from critics.
