Early life and backgroundNaseebo Lal was born on 10 January 1970 in Chishtian, Pakistan, into a family of musicians that migrated from Rajasthan, India after partition. Music was part of her upbringing: her mother was her first teacher and other family members sang and performed at weddings and fairs. She never received formal academic education.

Naseebo Lal developed into a prominent folk vocalist who performs primarily in Punjabi, Urdu and Marwari, and has also sung in Pashto.
