Early life and backgroundNauman Ijaz was born on 14 February 1965 in Ichhra, Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Raised in a Punjabi family, he attended Cathedral High School and Divisional Public School in Lahore before studying at Forman Christian College and Punjab University, where he completed an LLB. His father worked as a manager in a film theatre. Nauman’s hometown remains Lahore.
Career
Ijaz began his performing journey in theatre, where he acted in Urdu stage productions including a debut titled Ek Raat. He transitioned to television with the serial Din in 1988 and has since become one of Pakistan’s most recognisable screen actors. Over the decades he has appeared in numerous television dramas, with notable credits that include Dasht (1993), Mera Saeein (2010), Durr-e-Shahwar (2011), Jackson Heights (2014), Parizaad (2021) and Sang-e-Mah (2022).
His film work includes roles in Ramchand Pakistani (2008) and Small Voices (2008), and he has also appeared in titles such as Virsa (2010) and Hijrat (2016). Ijaz’s body of work spans Urdu and Punjabi projects, and in 2017 he acted in the mini-series Saat Mulaqatien, which streamed on Nashpati Prime. He also featured in the web series Mrs. & Mr. Shameem on Zee5 in 2022.
Beyond acting, Nauman Ijaz has worked as a television host. He has presented shows such as Mazaaq Raat (2013) on Dunya TV and G Sarkar (2021) on Neo News.
