Early life and backgroundNavneet Kaur Rana was born on 6 April 1985 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, into a Punjabi family. She attended Karthika High School in Kurla West and left formal schooling during her twelfth standard to pursue modelling. After beginning work as a model and appearing in music videos, she went on to study for a Bachelor of Commerce.
Navneet’s family includes her father Harbhajan Singh Kundless, who served in the army, and her mother Rajani Kaur. She later settled in Amravati for parts of her political life while maintaining a present address in New Delhi.

Navneet began her public career as a performer. She acted across several Indian film industries, with credits in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Tamil and Hindi language productions. Her early screen appearances include roles in the Kannada film Darshan (2003) and the Telugu film Seenu Vasanthi Lakshmi (2003), in which she played the character Lakshmi. She continued to appear in regional films through the 2000s, with titles such as Chetna: The Excitement (2005), Jagapathi (2005), Roommates (2006), Jabilamma (2008), Flash News (2009), and the Malayalam film Love in Singapore (2009). Her Punjabi film work includes Lad Gaya Pecha (2010) and Chhevan Dariya.

During her tenure in the Seventeenth Lok Sabha she served on parliamentary panels including the Standing Committee on Agriculture and the Standing Committee on External Affairs, and was a member of consultative committees for the Ministries of Finance and Corporate Affairs. In March 2024 she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. She contested the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Amravati as a BJP candidate but lost that contest.

In 2014 she filed a police complaint alleging harassment by a political rival; in the same period legal complaints were also raised about the authenticity of a caste certificate she had submitted. The Bombay High Court later imposed a monetary fine related to a finding that she had made a false claim when obtaining a Scheduled Caste certificate. In 2022 she and her husband were arrested after a public call to chant the Hanuman Chalisa outside a political leader’s residence; they were later granted bail with conditions. A non-bailable warrant was issued in a fake caste certificate case in late 2022.
Navneet and her husband Ravi Rana are founders of an organisation-turned-political party named Yuva Swabhiman Party, originally conceived as a social initiative focused on uplifting economically disadvantaged groups. The couple first met at a yoga event organised by Baba Ramdev, and they married on 2 February 2011 in a large mass marriage ceremony in Amravati attended by several public figures.
