Navya Naveli Nanda was born on 6 December 1997 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Raised in a prominent film family, she is the daughter of Nikhil Nanda and Shweta Bachchan Nanda and the granddaughter of actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. She spent part of her schooling at Sevenoaks School in London before moving to the United States for higher education.

Navya completed a bachelor's degree in Digital Technology and UX Design from Fordham University, New York, graduating in 2020. During her studies she interned in product marketing at Facebook’s Menlo Park office from May to September 2018.
